We are looking to increase our organisation's presence in delivering sport and physical activity in the local community. The role of a Community Activator Coach is to play a key part in supporting healthier communities, focusing on improving the health and well-being of the nation. They create a positive environment that supports people, especially young individuals, to grow and develop through sport and physical activity. These coaches promote, deliver, and lead fun, inclusive, and engaging activities that encourage whole communities to adopt and maintain a physically active lifestyle. Beyond being activity and sports leaders, they truly understand the needs of their communities and customers.
The Community Activator Coach will assist the centres in delivering and growing their dry side sports provision which includes, gymnastics, social sport and potentially other sports such as Tennis or Padel.
This will include planning activities as well as delivering feedback to participants and their parents as required
You will also be asked to work in other areas of the leisure centres by setting up/ down equipment, working in the extreme areas and soft play. Shifts on reception or completing out reach may also be required.
The wage for this position is £226.50 per week. Upon successful completion of probation at 6 months your wage will rise up to £415.50 per week (dependant on age)
What your apprenticeship includes:
-A mixture of face to face and online catch ups every 4 - 6 weeks to discuss feedback and progress
-A mixture of on and off the job training, including workshops and webinars
-Reviews every 12 weeks with your Line Manager and apprenticeship Trainer
-The chance to get Functional Skills in English and maths (if you don’t already have GCSE)
With GLL you will be working towards a level 2 Community Activator Coach apprenticeship over the course of 12-18 months

-Excellent people skills, with the ability to talk to customers and deal with their queries & concerns with tact & sensitivity -Ability to work as part of a wider community sports team, whilst having specific responsibilities -The ability to deliver high quality service with minimal supervision
Personal qualities
-Friendly, Helpful and able to speak to people in a professional manner
-A keen interest in community health and wellbeing
-Knowledge/ Experience of sports coaching
-Self Motivated and able to work to deadlines
-A dynamic individual with a ‘can do’, results driven approach and attitude
Qualifications required
No qualifications are required for this role but a Level 1 or 2 coaching qualification would be beneficial
Future prospects
GLL prides itself on its internal Learning & Development and internal promotion levels, with Community Sports Officer being the progression route for this position.
